The non-biodegradability of plastic bags is well known. Yet the awareness hasn’t been spread widely, and people have grown accustomed to the plastic bags. In order to spread the awareness about the various ill-effects of Plastic bag usage and to return the people to the use of Cloth bags, we started the Thunippai Thookka Thunivom (Let us Carry Cloth Bags) Movement in our District in the year 2020.
Since then we have been providing free cloth bags and educating people regarding it. Also, we are supporting the Meendum Manjappai Movement initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu throughout the district.
